Generationrich publishes educational material about how models of information processes are built, used, and misunderstood. This policy explains what happens to your data when you read our articles, browse our topic pages, or contact us. We have written it in plain language, because a privacy policy that nobody understands does not actually protect anyone. A common myth is that a site with no products to sell has nothing to explain in a privacy policy. In fact, even a purely informational publication collects some data simply by operating a website, and we think you deserve clarity about exactly what that involves.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the minimum information necessary to run the site reliably and to understand, in aggregate, how it is used. This falls into three broad groups:
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, and timestamps, collected automatically when you request a page.

- Contact data: if you email support@generationrich.cfd or otherwise reach out, we keep the content of that correspondence and the address you used, so we can reply and keep a record of the exchange.
We do not ask visitors to create accounts, and we do not collect payment details, because nothing on this site is sold. We also do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of data, such as health or financial information, through normal use of the site.
2. How We Use It
Data is used for a narrow set of purposes: to serve pages correctly, to detect and prevent abuse or technical faults, to understand which topics are useful to readers so we can improve future articles, and to respond to messages sent to our support address. We do not use visitor data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent data to third parties. A frequent misconception is that any site using analytics is quietly building a marketing dossier on each visitor; in our case, analytics exist solely to see which explanations of information modelling are actually helpful, in aggregate, not to track individuals across the web.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, we rely on the following legal bases, depending on the activity:
- Legitimate interests: for technical and usage data needed to operate and secure the site, and to understand readership at an aggregate level.
- Consent: for non-essential cookies and analytics tools, which you can accept or decline through the cookie banner, and change at any time via the 'Cookie settings' link in the footer.
- Contract or pre-contractual steps: not generally applicable, since we offer no paid services, but this basis would apply if you ever requested something requiring a direct exchange with us.
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.
4. Cookies and Analytics
We use a small number of cookies to remember your preferences and, where you have consented, to measure aggregate site usage through privacy-conscious analytics tools. Full details, including cookie names, purposes and retention periods, are set out in our Cookie Policy. You can withdraw or adjust consent at any time using the 'Cookie settings' link in the site footer; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
5. Sharing of Information
We share data only where necessary: with hosting and infrastructure providers who store and serve the site, with analytics providers operating under contractual data-protection terms, and with professional advisers or authorities where disclosure is required by law. We do not share, sell or trade personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or unrelated third parties. A widespread myth about small informational sites is that, because they carry no obvious sponsors, no sharing happens at all; in reality, even modest technical infrastructure involves a small number of processors, and we believe you should know who they are in general terms rather than assume none exist.
6. Data Retention
We keep different categories of data for different periods, reflecting how long each is actually useful:
- Server and technical logs: retained for up to 90 days, then automatically deleted or anonymised.
- Aggregated analytics data: retained for up to 26 months, consistent with standard analytics configuration limits.
- Email correspondence sent to support@generationrich.cfd: retained for up to 24 months after the last exchange, to allow for follow-up and record-keeping, then deleted unless a legal reason requires longer retention.
- Cookie consent records: retained for up to 12 months, after which your preference is requested again.
We do not retain personal data indefinitely by default; where retention periods above are exceeded, data is deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
7. Your Rights
Under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to request access to your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to request data portability where technically applicable. You also have the right to withdraw consent at any time for processing based on consent, without affecting prior lawful processing. If you believe your data has been mishandled, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent supervisory authority for data protection.
8. International Transfers
Some of our infrastructure or analytics providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses recognised under UK data protection law, so that your information continues to receive a comparable level of protection wherever it is processed.
9. Children's Privacy
Generationrich is intended for a general adult audience interested in how information systems and models work. The site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@generationrich.cfd so we can address it.
10. Third-Party Links
Our articles sometimes reference external resources for further reading. These links lead to sites we do not control, and this policy does not extend to them. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any external site before providing information there. A common assumption is that a link from an educational article implies endorsement of everything on the destination site; it does not, it simply points to further material.
